Rotham and Noel
High upon the misty mount
Rotham blew the North Star out
Took it as his ladies gem
Watched it as its flaming ebbed
And Lyra strong and true and brave
Came to him that winters day
Asked him why the light was gone
The sun was set, the stars were lost
And he said...
I was born among the rest
Born to walk this world and pass this weary test
So if you're up in heaven and you're looking down on earth
If you want your prized possession
You better armor up for war
And war it came upon the land
Mortals and gods marshaled their men
The battle lines were drawn on high
Where mountains touched the sunlit sky
Kroja summoned his bestial hordes
Those animals without a soul
Minotaurs monsters goblins and trolls
The lesser creatures of the Fold
His nymphs and nyriads he did tell
To be his creatures generals
These lesser gods would have to go
Leave the sky to fight below
And gods are gods but gods will bleed
And when the last drop has emptied
Immortal once, never again
And so the low gods could be killed
Rotham he knew the ways on high
He watched them from the nightlit sky
He went into the halls of men
Talked to the bravest chieftains and kings
"Why should we be mere slaves to them
What have they done since creation
But used us for their childish games
We die for their pleasure and their fame"
They banged their shields
they clenched their fists
They cheered him on and pledged their oaths
That Mon itself would run with gold
The blood of their immortal foes
Then rotham came unto his land
Went to take his ladies hand
He hid her where noone would see
With the Ladies of Revery
Noel! Noel! how fair was she
The sweetest heart and soul she be
The gods themselves often did weep
That she was born to mortality
She cried that day to see him go
With fear for her beloved's soul
For if he failed then hell he'd find
The lowest dungeon for all time
But rotham never feared those things
Only hatred for mans slavery
Yet love can make the strong be weak
And noone loved stronger than he
Kroja crafty ever was
He looked upon brave rothams love
For swords were struck and shields were clanged
But men ever prevailed back then
They fought with fire of the free
They strove towards something pure and clean
And ever won against the nymphs
Rotham and the kings of men
(Great men rose up to his side
Arctum, moric and carem ly
Magnus, pors and tark the free
Wild men ever love liberty)
So kroja took a council of war
Assembled every lady and lord
To devise a way to victory
Outside his creatures vast armies
For blood it ran like rivers then
That of goblins men and nymphs
And gods wept to see their work
Crumble in that tragic war
Lyra called for peace that day
In her good and gracious way
Yuvrum called for ancient writes
To wipe history of all mankind
A shudder wrent through immortal hearts
For though men pushed on in their war
Still they were the gods great art
And loathe they were to see them part
Lady liberty argued mans cause
Fess argued the war was lost
But Femor wise one thing did state
"A great man dies if his heart breaks"
Kroja smiled to hear the words
And sent his secret messengers
To all the land to all the world
To find where sweet Noel was hid
And one lady of revelry
Wandered lost from the secret valley
A messenger cruelly made her speak
And found where fair Noel might be
Then kroja sent handsome Walium
The god of lust and seduction
His potions and spells could master hearts
Though dark and cursed, they scarred the Gods
Yet kroja that high price would pay
To take a hearts freedom away
So Walium found her as she prayed
And touched her to see her lauded face
Noel! Noel! he loved her then
And gods always take whom they will
He put on her a spell of lust
That cursed thing resembling love
Rotham from his watch on high
Looked down on Mons often to spy
And when he saw Noel come there
No words would come, only a tear
He saw her love for Walium
He saw her wrapped in his strong arms
To see her there among the gods
His heart was pierced with painful loss
And all the champions he had
Could not defend from that attack
Gods could not kill him with the sword
They killed him with a broken heart
They killed him with a broken heart
(And when his heart once stopped to beat
Then Noel waked from her dream
To see her wretched company
She wept and cursed bitterly
The gods wept to see this pain
Tragic love was no intended thing
But kroja and Walium cheerily
Rejoiced in their cruel victory
Noel's heart could take no more
Rotham was what her heart beat for
She threw herself from Mons great heights
And fell with one last hope...to die
And still this day the mountains weep
At winter's end and nature's spring
Every crack becomes a stream
Earth sheds it tears for their tragedy)
